Author Guidelines – Advances in Clinical Surgery (ACS)
Advances in Clinical Surgery (ACS) publishes high-quality research, reviews, and case reports in all areas of clinical and surgical sciences. We welcome original studies, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, case reports, and technical notes that contribute to advancements in surgical practice and patient care.
Manuscript Types
We accept the following types of manuscripts:
Original Research Articles: Detailed investigations with robust data supporting novel findings.
Review Articles: Comprehensive analyses of current trends and advancements in surgical practice.
Case Reports: Unique or rare clinical cases that contribute to the knowledge of surgical procedures and management.
Technical Notes: Descriptions of new surgical techniques, modifications, or innovations.
Editorials and Commentaries: Expert perspectives on current surgical topics and recent advancements.
Letters to the Editor: Short communications discussing published articles or surgical concerns.
Manuscript Preparation
All submissions must adhere to the following formatting guidelines:
Language: Manuscripts should be written in clear, concise English.
Word Limit:
Original Research: Up to 5,000 words (excluding references and figures)
Review Articles: Up to 6,000 words
Case Reports: Up to 2,500 words
Technical Notes: Up to 2,000 words
Letters to the Editor: Up to 1,000 words
File Format: Submit as a Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) file.
Font and Spacing: Use Times New Roman, size 12, double-spaced.
Structure:
Title Page: Title, author names and affiliations, corresponding author details.
Abstract: Structured (Objective, Methods, Results, Conclusion) within 250 words.
Keywords: Provide 4-6 keywords.
Main Text: Should follow the IMRAD format (Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion).
References: Follow the Vancouver referencing style.
Figures and Tables: Submit high-resolution images separately and cite them sequentially in the text.
Ethical Considerations
Research involving human participants must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki and have Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval.
Animal studies must adhere to ethical guidelines and be approved by relevant committees.
Clinical trials must be registered with recognized trial registries.
Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest.
Submission Process
Manuscripts must be submitted via our online submission system. Authors are required to:
Provide a cover letter summarizing the manuscript’s significance.
Suggest at least three potential reviewers.
Ensure compliance with the ICMJE authorship criteria.
Plagiarism Check
Advances in Clinical Surgery strictly adheres to plagiarism policies and ensures research integrity.
All submitted manuscripts undergo plagiarism screening using advanced plagiarism detection software.
The journal follows a strict policy of 15% similarity limit (excluding references and standard phrases).
Manuscripts exceeding this limit will be rejected or sent back for revision.
Authors must ensure proper citation and paraphrasing of previously published work.
Self-plagiarism and duplicate submissions are not allowed. Any detected cases of plagiarism will result in immediate rejection and possible blacklisting of the authors.
Peer Review Process
All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process:
Initial screening for scope and formatting compliance.
Assignment to reviewers for evaluation based on scientific merit, originality, and relevance.
Editorial decision (acceptance, minor/major revisions, or rejection).
Revisions and final approval before publication.
Publication Fees and Open Access Policy
ACS is an open-access journal, ensuring global dissemination of research. Article Processing Charges (APCs) apply:
Original Research and Reviews: $1,500
Case Reports and Technical Notes: $800
Waivers and discounts are available for authors from low-income countries.
Copyright and Licensing
Authors retain copyright under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC -BY 4.0), allowing unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction with proper citation.
